Great Community Theatre for Charity
Minnesota's oldest (only?) fully qualified 501(c)3 Charity theatre group was formed in 1980 as a fund raising arm of Christians Reaching Out in Social Services, a food, clothing, and social services organization serving the Northwest Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA. Incorporated separately in 1998, CCP produces a large scale musical in June/July and a more moderate, occasionally non-musical show, during the Fall/Winter. CCP also provides entertainment at local charity and service club events. CCP uses various churches and schools in the Osseo - Maple Grove MN area for rehearsals and performances.
Including cast, orchestra, technical and production crews, 000's of individuals, all amateurs, have donated tens of thousands of hours of time to these events. Over 50,000 patrons of all ages, incomes and demographics have been entertained during 280+ performances; some on complimentary tickets distributed through the C.R.O.S.S. foodshelf. The efforts and contributions of volunteers and 3000+ regular patrons have allowed CCP to donate tens of thousands of pounds of food and over $80,000 to local charities, including C.R.O.S.S. and CEAP. CCP is run by a board of unpaid local individuals working in the areas of finance, production and publicity. Interested persons are welcome to attend the monthly meetings ~ please call or email to confirm plans. CCP is also a member of the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres and occasionally applies for and receives funding assistance from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through a grant from The McKnight Foundation and an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature.
