How long have you been in business?
Birchwood Financial Partners was started back in 1992.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide financial planning services. We pride ourselves on simplifying our client’s complex financial lives and giving them the confidence to make informed decisions and we would love the opportunity to help you do the same.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I, Dana Brewer, am one of the firm's owners. I became interested in financial planning when I was shopping for an advisor many years ago. I realized how hard it was to find a firm that took the time to get to know my families needs and wants and would put my interests ahead of theirs. I never did find that firm so I went back to college and got a degree that gave me the education to take care of my families finances and joined with some other advisors that also had the same vision for their firm.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a "fee only" firm which basically means we are transparent with our fees. Any cost that our clients pay will be disclosed up front and paid directly by the client, nothing behind the scenes. Secondly, we have a fiduciary duty to put our clients interests first. That comes from all of our advisors having Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations as well as our fee only structure. We also have a specialty in Sustainable Responsible Impact Investing (SRI), approximately 10% of our clients have some element of SRI in their portfolios.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location in Edina and we serve clients all over the US.

What are your hours of operation?
Mostly 8 - 5 Monday through Friday but we can be available outside of those hours.
